I've found that the mid-evening (about 8/9pm) is the best time for a little trip to the beach at the moment. It's still sunny and warm but everyone else has ****ed off home at 6/7.

That said, the little beach we go to is never anywhere near as busy as some of the horrific pictures I've seen of the big English ones. The only beach in Scotland I've ever seen get really horrendous is Troon, because that's where Glasgow flocks on a sunny weekend. Probably because there's a direct train. I've not been to Troon Beach since I was in my late teens though, when me and my school chums went there at midnight during a thunder storm and almost got hit by lightning

But back on topic, yeah I don't understand why anyone would WANT to spend time on a busy beach. Yuck.
