Eh, the new stuff is another example of the gentrification of nerd culture
taking something which can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life but with a loose target audience, and turning it into something for the lowest common denominator.
I'm not saying I'm above enjoying garbage, but there's no reason the stuff they're making needs to be Star Trek, it could be its own thing.
