The thing is, this was actually a pretty good election for the Republicans. They've gained seats in the House and aren't likely to lose control of the Senate, and Trump has just won the second biggest popular vote total of any presidential candidate ever, higher turnout the reason or not. Trump
ism is now, arguably, and rather worryingly, a serious political beast in the States, and the GOP will need to decide whether to return their party to...well...some kind of normality, or whether they embrace it wholeheartedly and allow his base to take over. Time will tell on that idea
