Weeell it's rare that the GP would give you something that hasn't been around for several years AND that hasn't undergone years of testing before release - that's sort of the point. There are some meds with nasty side effects but usually you'd already have an illness that makes the side effects worth it whereas the Covid vaccine will be given to healthy people so it's not really the same.
The illegal drugs example of course, putting any illegal drug into your system is always going to be 1000+ times more dangerous than a vaccine... especially because half the time it's not just the drug, they're cut with all sorts of **** like cleaning products.
