Most of Biden's "rallies" were filmed in a studio, weren't they? I know some people joked he did in his basement, which I can't get out my head
but either way, Biden's version was more effective at not spreading Covid.
As for the more votes thing, that's a combination of population growth and people thinking "god we need to get rid of Trump!" Having a divisive candidate makes people more likely to vote.
