The UK system is honestly flawed in similar ways to the US system, the difference keeping us in the "full" section (albeit the lighter side of it) is simply that - thus far - the people involved in politics are still largely abiding by etiquette rules, whereas Trump and the GOP's total abandonment of etiquette has damaged the US's function as a democracy.

In theory, there are a number of undemocractic loopholes that UK governments could LEGALLY exploit, but generally don't. Boris tried his hand at it with some Autumn 2019 Brexit-stuff though, if you will recall.
