I find this over-simplified I suppose; both sides could apply to severity of actions/likely consequences or it could simply refer to specific behaviour or thinking patterns. Do I think "both sides are as bad as each other"? No, absolutely not, the dangers of rampant right-wing ideology can't really be overstated.
However are there absolutely MASSIVE issues with dogma, mantra-parroting and groupthink "on both sides"? It's quite clear that there is but I don't even consider that a "sides" issue. They're not different things, they're exactly the same thing, just attached to different ideologies. It's never a good thing, separate to whether one ideology is objectively more dangerous than the other... The mindset itself, regardless of the focus, is dangerous. There's no such thing as a constructive conversation with a zealot and these days zealots are absolutely everywhere, interwoven into every issue big or small... and without conversation you have nothing.
