This might be a stupid thing to have caused such a reaction from me, but I had that the other day when re-reading a DC graphic novel called Identity Crisis.

The partners and relatives of several heroes in the JLA are being attacked or threatened, meaning someone knows who they all are. Robin's dad (Jack Drake) was sent a gun and a letter which said PROTECT YOURSELF with the R as Robin's symbol.
His house was set up with a panic button, but Jack Drake wanted Robin to stay. Robin insisted he was needed out there, and told him not to open the door to anyone.
Captain Boomerang breaks in, and a shootout kills them both.
A bloody comic book of all things probably shouldn't have given me such a gut-punch, but (pardon the pun) it was perfectly executed. They were re-building their relationship as a result of the attacks, and the race against time in BatMobile with the live feed from the house was almost Hitchcockian, and when Tim found his dad...
I dunno, it just really got me
