Very similar vibes to the Resi 4 las plagas villager attack (I suspect it was a deliberate throwback to that, right down to the ending, Resi 4 bell ringing and Resi 8 summoning from the castle). On playthrough 1 it was about evading and surviving, playthrough 2 you can easily fight back, and by playthrough 3 it's a massacre
. It can actually end with you killing all of the villagers rather than timing out.
