It's just daft for a whole host of reasons. The obvious transmission risk is one... the other is that we should be holidaying/daytripping locally to support local economies. You don't even necessarily have to stay away from home to have a "holiday", take a couple of weeks off and plan a tonne of activities within driving range. We do a big "day-trip" every Saturday and have been known to drive 3+ hours each way... but we've discovered some amazing places
