Well I'm covered in them (okay not "covered" but a sleeve and a half, soon to be two sleeves, and a couple more little ones dotted around). Mine mostly all have big meaning to me but there are a few things like roses just to fill space and look "nice". I mostly have objects and the like relating to my family and my life/job/interests.
Obviously I don't like every tattoo I see, far from it, but when they're done well they can be really breath-taking, especially portraits.
I especially LOVE how nowadays many women in particular are having beautiful designs after having life-saving mastectomy surgery on their breasts. Covering their scars with flowers and other beautiful objects - it's really wonderful. Tattooing really isn't taboo or seen as this awful thing anymore which is great to see.
Soon to be starting [fingers crossed, pandemic-allowing] a tattoo apprenticeship also, something I've always wanted to do since I was a teen many moons ago. I had my last tattoo, a big, ferocious roaring lion portrait in a six hour session, back in September (I think) and know the shop owner who was tattooing me from my childhood and she had seen my artwork and asked me on the spot if I wanted to do it - nearly snatched her hand off. A new challenge art-wise, would love to be able to one day be professional. Just got to wait for the shop to catch up with all of their rescheduled appointments from the lockdowns.
