I think because the details are sketchy and we're led to believe the account of the victim of the assault (which... I mean... is obviously going to be one-sided... and it's all that the TMZ article runs with. No police reports, nothing...), there's an understandable backlash against this narrative. Widow claims that this is someone (an ex-partner) who broke into his/her home and refused to leave. Missouri law is a bit sketchy with regards to self-defence in one's own home. The violence sounds excessive when it's a list of injuries one party received but there's no telling really what went on
