Five marches took place across the city - the first Saturday loyalist’s parades in
almost two years.
The biggest of the marches, by Royal Orange Institution Govan District 42,
started and ended at Brand Street.
The Loyal Orange Institution, commonly known as the Orange Order, is an
international Protestant fraternal order based in Northern Ireland. It also has
lodges in England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland, as well as
throughout the British Commonwealth and the United States.
Last summer, loyalist groups were unable to fulfill their usual season of
parades as the Covid pandemic ruled out large gatherings.
But with restrictions easing, thanks to the vaccine rollout, marches are back
on the cards this month.
