I went for a haircut the other day and was a bit shocked to find that they didn't have a card reader... I was like "I'll need to go to a cashline..." but then found a dusty £20 note in my wallet that must have been there for at least 18 months, because I haven't used cash since pre-covid
. Even the windowcleaner and gardener use PayPal these days.
I also went out for a drink for the first time since pre-covid with a couple of friends about a month ago and asked them if I'd need cash or if the pub was likely to take card and was laughed at
because not only does it not take cash, you don't even use card, you order on an app from the table.
Which is for covid reasons etc. but also
the best thing that has ever happened to pubs in my opinion. Like... I don't actually have to go and stand at the bar?? Amazing.
