There's an old chap (and I mean OLD old, he must be late 80's at the very least) at the end of my street who goes around collecting any scrap wood that he sees in people's gardens, I presume to use as firewood...
...about a year ago, large house at the other end of the street decided to chop down all the trees surrounding their garden - and this is not just a few little trees, it was surrounded by 20 or so fully grown, 20m+ tall trees. The fellers with chainsaws were there for over a week, chopping them down and then further dividing into chunks to be removed and ... ... the old chap spent hours every single day going back and forward with a wheelbarrow collecting it up and putting it in the collection in his garden

. There's STILL loads in his little wood shelter thing. Really amazing scenes. He's half blind too, and likes to ride around on a bike, you just have to dodge him in the car he doesn't GAF.
