That's not really a denial from him that it didn't happen then.

No recollection of Caroline wasn't no way did he ever do that.

What does that tell us in a comparison to had he instead said, ''absolutely not I never did that''.

If I was ever accused of something I hadn't done and had the public opportunity to refute it.
I wouldn't be saying I had no recollection of it.
I'd be strenuously denying ever doing so.

What about the second accusation too.
Has he just avoided that addition to events?.
