For me it's a massive step up on Home Sweet Home 2 out of my recent Horror experiences, but compared to the other Resi Games, Village is my worst.

To be fair I can't remember if this was the case on my first playthrough, I know the map like the back of my hand now
. A big criticism would be that on repeat plays there are sections that are hilariously easy, e.g. the lake/swamp (there are basically no enemies so you can just go from objective to objective once you know where they are - and the boss fight there is ridiculously easy) and also things like the Wolf stronghold, which seem hard, but you can actually just ... run past everything and out the other end in each section , in about 20 seconds flat - nothing follows you out so it doesn't matter how many are chasing you.
