The gas prices crisis isn't about your literal gas supply arista; electricity prices are also massively hiked because so much of our grid power generation relies on natural gas. Arguably that's the much bigger problem. No one actually needs a gas supply
at all. Scottish islands (and much of the highlands) don't even have mains gas, for example.
