The victims were only women and girls, so why should the legal system care?
The islamic rape gangs were similarly ignored for ages, women have to make way for male people in their spaces and sports, sex crimes in general are under-sentenced, abortion rights are under attack in America...
Why would you assume that sex slavery would be taken seriously? It's only the second sex they're treating as property.
