the problem with the fur trade is similar to the meat trade. cows/pigs/lambs are slaughtered so we can eat their meat; if we choose to be vegetarians; it won't make the slightest bit of difference. the animals would have been slaughtered anyway.

just imagine how much meat wastage there is. so much so; you would hardly believe it actually. I'm not just on about (out of date) meat; I'm on about meat in butchers and supermarkets and even those who supply to them which ends up being wasted. anybody's one man/woman crusade to try and prevent cattle being killed for their meat is doing it all in vain. the slaughtering shall go on for ever; as sad as it may seem to some.

I have said in my first sentance (the fur trade is similar to the meat trade); not-exactly-the-same. because animals get killed for their beautiful fur; then after the fur has been made into a coat; the coat will hopefully be sold to a customer; probably for a hefty price.

Animals will continue to be killed for their fur; even if a few hundred people choose to buy (fake fur) instead. all it shall mean is that there will be plenty of unsold (real fur) coats awaiting customers; more-than-likely sitting in storage somewhere. but if they build up too much and the buyers become less; then those (real fur) coats lying dormant in some stock room may come on the market at a knock down price. somebody shall buy them; as there is still a market for them.

personally I think it should be a crime to kill animals for their fur; made totally illegal (worldwide). we are no longer living in the dark ages; (fake fur) coats are available and they are equally as good as real fur; so whats the point in needless killing?

I say (kill the fur trade) and (stop killing the animal) but my little voice won't get heard (neither will most of us) by those who have a business to run. the fur trade is a business; a very profitable business which makes quite a few people very wealthy indeed; at the sad price of the animals life.

singer; jane wiedlin entitled her second album (fur). she chose that title for the very same reason;

1. stop killing animals for their fur
2. (refer to question 1)
