I'm a Tolkien nerd and don't even like the liberties that the LotR movies take
if i could detach my brain and just watch it as a generic fantasy fan, I'd probably like it just fine.
But when every named character is wrong, and all species (including humans!) deviate from the "lore", it would just irritate me
