Don't lump the "anti-woke" types with those who criticise the show for having diversity which doesn't match up with the lore Tolkien created. The Numenoreans were explicitly white, even the Black Numenoreans. Elves and Dwarves pre-date the Sun, so they wouldn't be anything but white.

existing isn't woke, so using modern casting conventions as an excuse to pre-emptively hate the show is just stupid. Their casting makes no sense when looking at Middle Earth lore, but it's the Current Year so get over it
The casting isn't the source of my scepticism, but I can understand why other Tolkien nerds would have a problem with it.
