As regards caterpillars and butterflies ..
As I understand things ..
When the caterpillar or maggot or whatever goes into it’s pupate state ( in the casing) it’s dissolved by it’s own stomach acid and turns into a liquid and then gradually the cells reform into a completely different solid ( butterfly ) !!
Apparently scientists don’t fully comprehend the process to this day ..
