I mean the stats there are a little misleading. Yes there are issues of kids falling through the cracks post-Covid, you can't really deny that, but also there are people and families who simply discovered that home-schooling works better for them and always would have, they just had never tried it. There are also multiple reasons for decline in mental health across all age groups including children, no real evidence that most of those wouldn't have the same issues if schools had stayed open.
There are definitely kids who thrive in school but it's not all.
