The main thing that bothers me about this isn't the teachers personal stance - it's how quickly he goes to "dictate" rather than "debate". But that's not really anything new in schools, to be fair.
In this case it seems pretty clear that he's no-debating the issue because he doesn't actually have good or solid debate points on the topic and he knows it. He can't debate it so defaults to "this isn't up for discussion".
