Because the uproar is the dispute not the act itself.

There wasn't "more uproar" about the football kiss - it's just that with the Holy Joe and the kid everyone saw/read it and said " WTF is this?" and were unified. With the football chap, we had reasonable people rightly calling it out as wrong while some others declared it totally fine/justified sexual assault on the grounds of "u dnt understand how passionate footie makes folks".

Which lead to a longer and more heated thread.

Think of it in Big Brother terms; the longest and most "uproarious" threads were never about the housemates everyone liked, or the housemates everyone hated... they were about the ones half the forum liked and half hated.

Just the nature of debate.
