This, in turn, is confusing Matty because of all the mixed signals, and leaving poor Henry feeling cast aside and hurt. It’s ironic that he is subjecting others to what he fears the most.
I know most people won’t agree, but I think all of them are nice guys who just happen to have got themselves into a messy situation.

Or maybe he'll say something like " I don't want to be a slave to my feelings"
