The Cobra Kai producers said a while back that they don't have anything to do with this film. I don't want this new film to discard the Cobra Kai continuity or to merge the two clumsily.
It's from Sony Pictures and they have been trying to make their Spider-man spin-offs connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe a thing, with not much success.
