Soost comes from East Berlin and grew up in a children's home from the age of nine. His biological father was from Ghana, and he had an affair with Soost's mother, who was married. The marriage ended in divorce shortly after Soost's birth. His mother was German, manic-depressive and died when he was thirteen years old. Soost's father denied paternity in court and died in 2006. Soost had only met him once in Ghana at the age of 34, one year before his death. His mother had an older daughter from her marriage

Soost was a choreographer from 2000 and a jury member in the casting show Popstars from 2001 to 2012 from the second season. In 2004 and 2006 he took part in the Swiss talent show MusicStar on Swiss television SF.

He runs the dance school D!'s Dance School in Berlin-Mitte. He has developed show choreographies for more than 100 artists and staged the choreography of a key scene in the Leander Haußmann film Robert Zimmermann wonders about love. In May 2008, Panini Verlag published the magazine D!'s Dance Mag for the first time. Soost has released eight hip-hop dance DVDs and two DVDs of his fitness and wellness program Dantao; In his book Tanz dich fit, he provides instructions for his dance and fitness workouts.

Since 2012, Soost has been presenting a commercial training and nutrition program. In 2014 and 2015, he participated as a coach on the weight loss soap The Biggest Loser.

In 2022, he was a participant in the Sat.1 show Das grosse Promibacken. (Celeb Bake Off)
