Admittedly I did strawman you a little

But there is a lot of rhetoric out there about poorer families, especially single mothers.

Food deserts are a thing, where those who don't have cars can't easily access decent food in their neighbourhoods, and even foodbanks can only do so much.

Plus, Home Ec in schools isn't what it once was. I'm on another forum, and some of the older female members talk about how they were taught to shop decently, and to batch cook, or at least to affordably cook. (I know there's a chance they were exaggerating the quality of their schooling and/or learned these things fron their families)

No-one is just born knowing these things, and to be frank if someone ends up a young single mother with little-to-no familial support, chances are they wouldn't have learned these things at home, and schools don't teach them to the same extent as they (possibly apocraphylly) did before...



Sorry, this is one of the few issues I'll get on my soapbox about
