Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward to help with their enquiries.

What we know

The Met Police said they were called to reports of a shooting near the Evin restaurant on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, Hackney at around 9.20pm on Wednesday night. Specialist firearms officers were in attendance, the force said.

Three men, aged 26, 37 and 42, were sitting outside a restaurant when they were shot by someone riding a motorbike, Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said on Thursday. A nine-year-old girl was having dinner inside the restaurant when she was shot.

All four victims were taken to an hospital in east London, with the three men being described as in a “stable” condition. Conway said that one of the men faces “potentially life-changing injuries”.

The girl suffered a gunshot would and remains in a critical conditions. Police do not believe the three men and the girl were known to each other.

Police have recovered a motorbike in nearby Colvestone Crescent that they believe was used in the shooting. They say that it is now known that the bike was stolen. A ”significant police presence” remains in the area, which includes armed officers, Conway added.
