I'm not a communist. I don't believe that every worker should be paid the exact same regardless of their skills and experience. I've worked hard(ish) to gain the knowledge and experience needed to achieve a good salary. I think all of that is right.
BUT
The baseline HAS TO BE that any adult working full time doing any job can afford to live comfortably - a decent roof over their head, bills paid, decent food on the table, some money left over for recreation - or there's something very wrong.
Also, 2x full time minimum wage should be enough for two adults to support themselves + children without needing top-ups and struggling to buy food and clothes.
We're not talking about unemployment here - we're talking families who are working full time. This is surely the absolute basics of what society is for.
