Normally if there are a large amount of people that have downloaded a file its normally safer and it does not affect the speed.

Well on other torrent sites like isohunt the top downloads normally have green for it being given a good rating and red for bad rating. I have never come across a virus but i suppose you just know if it looks a dodgy file and make sure you have your anti virus software on.
What size should a roughly 1hr video be, and will it take ages to download?
Depends on your interenet connection for me it would take around 1 - 2hours but thats being on a very fast connection.
