This clip shows why Davina should have stayed indoors for evictions - studio looks fantastic when it changed to red for the announcement, and then if only that screen could have lifted up to allow Davina outside, through the crowds to collect the evictee.
And apart from looking great, it also highlights how not having her in a crowd focuses attention on the housemates, not on the booing mob.

I think the way we have announcements now is just a progression of times. However I do agree with you that it does look better and I wish they could build some sort of outdoor set for Davina to present the outside links from and talk to the house. The podium feels very dated.
