This being defended is peak TiBB lol. What he said was repulsive, his age and quirks are certainly no excuse, and the gaslighting playing it down - "he only called her a lesbian"
and "he meant a cigarette" just daft.
The only vague excuse I can think of that comes close to explaining it is that his brain has been rattled one too many times.
