Well... Definitely our stand ups anyway. I think our sitcoms and sketch comedies are as good as good as, and oftentimes better than, our American counterparts, but as far as stand ups, yes, historically I'd say the Americans have us beat there. Nowadays though it's not saying much.

It's amusing to me that Lorne Michaels heading this production is supposed to give it this sheen of reliability. Okay so he created the OG SNL. And? Again, sketch comedy shows are not exactly the new thing on us, so what does it matter that the creator of the mother show, a Canadian-American with different attitudes towards what comedy is and what goes into making something funny, is heading this iteration? If anything it's more likely to be a detriment insofar as appealing to British viewing audiences.
