Tbf he was well written - but he was written to be a bit dull. That was the point of the Corn Fed Iowa Boy... he was supposed to be a complete contrast to Angel/Spike, a "nice guys finish last" situation, it's all a bit incelly in hindsight but then again, nothing compared to ol' Xander, with highlights like... setting off axe-in-hand because the woman that
he broke up with was having sex with someone else
