Whether you agree with why they were protesting or not, imagine agreeing with arresting a bunch of peaceful protestors. Talk about authoritarian.
It reminds me when the police arrested people during Covid who wanted to protest against certain restrictions. Not a good luck. If all is non-violent, people should be able to protest.
