I was very cross but have let it go now our accountant said they could ask to us to provide paperwork from years past and that we could end up owing them more money so it was better to cut our losses, its just such a huge juggernaut of a department and it takes them so long to respond to any queries it would have dragged on and we feel in hindsight we have done the right thing as they basically have the tax payer over a barrel, no one wants to get in HMRCs line of sight
