also i think Isaac's death might done something to Kirsh, considering Isaac was his lab partner, also whom chose his own new name
and it was pretty stupid of Isaac, not to go with someone else to the lab but by himself
even Kirsh asked him to ask Curly to join him with feeding the creatures, advice which he ignored
