Her songwriting has always been utterly infantile but at least she usually had the good sense to have it produced and arranged in a listenable way... not sure where Jack Antonoff sauntered off to, but these songs are so
dull. I did briefly like the arrangement of "Cancelled!" before it was pointed out it's a ripoff of Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat".
Some of these lyrics are career lows for her. She is so permanently
stuck in high school mentally and it's embarrassing. I mean:
Quote:
When anyone called me "sweetheart"
It was passive-aggressive at the bar
And the bitch was telling me to back off
'Cause her man had looked at me wrong
|
Quote:
But I'm not a bad bitch
And this isn't savage
But I'm never gonna let you down
I'm never gonna leave you out
So many traitors
Smooth operators
But I'm never gonna break that vow
I'm never gonna leave you now, now, now
|
Quote:
Don't make it awkward in second period
Might piss your ex off, lately we've been good
Staying friends is safe, doesn't mean you should

She is the JK Rowling of the music industry. Weaponising feminism in the most immature and tedious ways.
I ended up giving the album a 3/10 but I think that's because the averages were kind after I gave the opener a 7/10

there were some 2s and even a 0 on here.
