Tate saying that if he comes across someone in despair he will suggest they read the bible and see where that takes them ..
Richard telling Tate that if he carries on down this path he will at some time get a message ( from god )telling him that he’s doing the right thing
They are discussing the bible and the scriptures and our Richard senses that Tate is ready to be a believer …
