Not saying that there is necessarily anything to it, but it was interesting too that she said she fancies Emily but Emily's first impression of Nancy was that she thought she didn't like her. Perhaps Nancy was attracted to Jenny, thought that they would click, and feels slightly rejected by her and that has led to feelings of resentment towards her.

Yes, it's widely known there isn't much between love and 'hate', but Nancy can't admit that it's really Jenny she fancies, so what she does to hide her attraction to her, is she makes out she doesn't like Jenny, and says it's someone else she likes, who, remarkably, as you, said, fits Jenny's description.
I'm not sure why Nancy won't admit she wants to get with Jenny, maybe it's fear of rejection. Who knows. But it's plain to see.
