If you got an A just because of a 1% increase, then I'd say you deserved an A - and would have got it regardless of a 1%.

Also, some people don't have a choice. I know my friend became an orphan a week before her A Levels, both parents killed in a car crash, and the school automatically applied for the 5% which she got. She informed AQA she'd rather not have the 5% (though she informed them too late and it had already been added).
