I’m not convinced. They’ve already lost six games this season, and it’s rare for a team to win the Premier League with that many defeats—the last example was Man City in 2020–21. They’ve conceded 20 goals in 12 matches, and so far results have been all or nothing: wins or losses, with no draws to steady things.

That tells you what’s wrong: they need two or three goals to win most games, but the goals aren’t coming. Salah is off form, Isak hasn’t hit the expected levels, and Gakpo’s game is starting to look predictable—he doesn’t have the trickiness they need to unlock defences right now.

Ekitike, who many hoped would spark the attack, isn’t getting minutes, and that’s a problem. Last season’s title charge was built on a 25‑game unbeaten run; with only 12 games played, there are still 26 to go, and that kind of streak needs to start immediately. Until they tighten up at the back and find a reliable way to score, I can see them dropping more points.

At the moment, everything points the same way: they’re struggling to recreate last season’s momentum, and I think they’re out of the title race and should concentrate on top four which is still going to be a challenge
