Default TiBB update

Hiya,

Just to say thanks for your patience while we try and solve these server problems. As you know at times the server spikes really high, leading to a lot of lag or a database crash.

There are a couple of things we think it might be, but the overall traffic is a big problem. It's far higher than we anticipated. For now, when we make the boards viewable to members only, it seems to be fast and stable. When we let anyone and anbody view thats when the spike occurs. You will have also noticed the Search and Whos Online goes down sometimes, that's just because we are testing things.

Unfortunately I can't get hold of our hosts at the moment (worst timing right? ), but at the moment our priority is just keeping the site online, and if this means people have to register and be a member to view the boards then we will do that. Please be assured we are working on this all the time, I know some people have been annoyed reported posts are taking longer to be dealt with, but this will hopefully smoothen out.

I can't give any exact figures, but we had a crazy first opening night for traffic. At one point Who's Online read 900 people viewing the boards, which beats our old record for 640 I had a sneaky peak at other sites, and most didn't have more than 30 on We are burning through bandwidth like no tomorrow also, using more in the last 5 days than we usually do in a month!

So once again, a big sorry for the problems... we are dealing with them all the time, and for the meantime there should (fingers crossed) be forum stability while it is open for regisTitered members only.

As soon as I've got in contact with the host, I'll give you an update

Sorry for any inconvenience,

- Mark
