I know what you are trying to say and I see your point, but I don't think it excuses her one bit. Firstly what, exactly, is a snob-like intellect? Snobbery is nothing to do with intellect and snobbery is nothing to do with how you react in a confrontation. Someone with a good intellect will often handle a row better because they are more articulate. That does not make them a Snob, though in the eyes of stupid aggressive INVERTED SNOBS like Bex, anyone who is much more intelligent than her, more well-spoken than her, and rises above childish spitefulness would probably be considered a Snob. Rex has the ability to stay cool-headed in a row and he can discuss an issue calmly and intelligently (albeit a bit smugly and sarcastically at times) without resorting to screaming irrelevent personal insults in peoples' faces. That makes Rebecca mad because she isn't quick-witted enough for him and she feels inferior. But frankly that's her problem, not Rex's. When she says something like 'he's trying to make me look small' or 'He's trying to make me look stupid' or he's such a w***er' what she actually means is 'I feel small and stupid around him because he's smart and in control of himself and I'm not. Therefore I hate him.' The fact that people who are calm and intelligent make mouthy aggressive people look stupid is a fact of life, but does not always mean they set out to do it on purpose! Though if the mouthy person persists in wanting a showdown then it isn't difficult for the intelligent person to belittle them with one or two carefully chosen sentences. (as can be seen in Rachel's lovely little put-down of Jen and Bex on the YouTube clip). Look, Mo is not articulate when he's really angry or upset either. But he deals with it by taking himself away from the group and busting a gut with frustration and yelling at himself and punching cushions. He also does not resort to screaming vile personal insults into peoples' faces, and running around being intimidating and just looking for ways to antagonise people and start trouble.
