Helen Adams and Paul Clarke – Stars of the Year
In July, Helen and Paul’s amorous antics made
Big Brother must-see TV. How are they doing now?
You’ve had an amazing year. What were your personal highlights?
P: Meeting Helen. It’s nice the way we met – something we’ll always remember.
H: Having my birthday in the house was quite cool. And the bloody pogo stick.
Is there one thing you know now that you wish you’d known back then?
H: I wish I’d known what it was going to be like coming out becasuse I’d have bloody stayed in there.
Did all the attention create tension between you?
P: Yeah, it did.
H: Did it?
P: We didn’t argue but we did have disagreements. You take it out on the people you love
H: I took it out on my mum too and I shouldn’t have.
What are people’s reactions to you now?
H: We still get mobbed. At some awards, these girls said, "Helen you bitch, you’re going out with Paul and you got your Gucci handbag". They then asked of they could kiss Paul. I had to say (grits teeth) "Oh yes, fine".
When was your first proper date?
P: Two weeks after the final we had a secret meeting.
H: It was like a military operation, no one knew. Security drove me to this industrial estate then I got into a mate of Paul’s car with a towel over my head. I had to lie down in the back of the car.
Where did you go?
P: We went to a restaurant in Reading and had 11 courses.
H: We liked the desserts: we had five.
P: They had chickpeas on the menu so we had a laugh about that.
H: We got really dressed up and Paul’s dad picked us up afterwards in his posh car.
P: It was nice, a proper date. We got really drunk.
What kind of things do you do now?
P: Last Sunday we had a day to ourselves for the first time in ages. We didn’t get up until 4pm.
H: After dinner we drank 3 bottles of wine – we were pissed by 5pm.
P: Then we put the BB tapes on and cried. Every time we watch it we say we’re never going to do it again. It’s too emotional.
