a- Aside from obvious stuff like food/water
I'd say connection to the internet...I spend most of my time on here, and use it to check news, communicate with friends, discuss on forums...etc... so I'd be kinda lost without it.
b- Absolutely
Unless I had to kill them in a gruesome way. I'd shoot someone for sure
