From my experience, halal meat, such as lamb, is EXACTLY the same meat as your meat, and it's killed in EXACTLY the same way in British slaughterhouses. The only difference is that a Muslim slaughterman, offering up a prayer to Allah, is working alongside a normal slaughterman. In either case, the animal is electrically stunned in the head, and then its throat is cut. (Well, you did ask!)

The main purpose of halal meat is to make people feel obedient to their faith, hence separate and superior.
